Yesterday I took a day off with my younger sister to have a wonderful visit with my mother, older sister and her husband in Chelan. I let myself forget about "the list" to enjoy the day and also pick up a mirror for the bathroom. We ate a scrumptious lunch prepared by my mother and had a chance to laugh and talk.
Today it was all about getting back to "the list". I started early with patching the big hole in the wall of the bathroom and moved on to all those little projects that have been nagging at me.
First thing was installing 2x4's to the existing studs to have a base for afixing sheet rock.
I covered as much of the hole as I could with the wall board.
Finally I taped the gaps. It will need another going over with the joint compound to try for a fair surface but most of it will be hidden behind a mirror and sink counter. I'm just doing the best I can.
I left the wet compound and posted my property with signs for no hunting and no trespassing. Hunting season starts next weekend. I quickly moved to the barn to muck it out and play with Dinah. I had a new plug for the stock tank heater to install also. It was a warm and pleasant day so hoses got put away, oil drum placed in the back of the truck and the dead battery taken out of the car for an exchange tomorrow. I got the weatherstripping on the doors and then had to spend time removing flies from the house. They are so busy trying to find a warm place to hunker down for the winter. Me too.
As the day was coming to a close, I cut and tiled the window ledge in the bathroom. When it's set up, I will take a hot shower (indoors is still a thrill) and call it a day.
